1) Start on any pitch. This pitch will represent the first pitch of the scale called one. The next pitch higher will be two, three, four, five, six, seven, and eight.
2) This exercise intends to gradually add or subtract a number that relates to different pitches.

* Another variation of this exercise is using solfege instead of number. (i.e. Doh, Doh re doh, Doh re mi re doh, etc.)
*This exercise is excellent for aural skills – sight singing because you can omit certain numbers and have the students assume the next numbers or solfege.
